    You remain a blessing!

It is great to have a personal experience of Christ. Nevertheless, this experience must be grounded on sound doctrine.

No one becomes born again, and automatically, has sound doctrine without being part of the community of Christ, where the word of God (goodnews) is rightly divided.

In the book of Acts, after Peter and the apostles had preached, all those who got saved were added to the Church.

For which purpose, they were to be taught the true revelation of Jesus (goodnews) and be built in the new and living way.

“Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” Acts 2:41-42 (NKJV).

What is the apostles’ doctrine (teaching)?

The focus of the message or teachings of the apostles was the revelation of Jesus and the expression of His life.

You don’t understand the scriptures alone.

As you have personal study, you also submit yourself to be taught in a Christ-centred church community.

This is how you begin to grow in the knowledge of Christ.

So we are charged through the scriptures, esteem them who labour in teaching you the word (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13).

Beloved, you cannot fully grasp and experience the goodnews of Jesus without a sound teacher of the word.

    UNDERSTANDING THE GOSPEL 3 –
THE GOSPEL IS THE REVELATION OF JESUS

“For the gospel is all about God’s Son…”

    Romans 1:3 (TPT)

As I have explained in previous posts, the gospel is Jesus and all that He attained for the saints.

God’s present message or news to the world is revealed through Jesus.

All of God’s glorious message is fully fulfilled and expressed through our Lord Jesus.

The appearing of Jesus, is the fulfilment of the scriptures concerning God’s saving plan and the expression of His Kingdom inheritance.

All that God declared through the scriptures were testimonies of Jesus. They all pointed to His appearing (John 5:39). Now in God’s eternal plan there is nothing which will manifest without being founded on the revelation of Jesus.

Whiles Paul and Barnabas were ministering to the Jews and non-Jews in Antioch, they patiently pointed out God’s prophetic dealings with the Israelites, and how that now Jesus is the fulfilment of the Prophecies of the scriptures.

“So here we are to share with you some wonderful news! The promise God made to our forefathers has now been fulfilled for us, their children. For God has raised Jesus from the dead, as it says in Psalms: ‘Today I reveal you as my Son, and I as your Father.” Acts 13:32-33 (TPT)

There is no good news above God’s news. And our Lord Jesus is the goodnews of God to the world.

This is exactly what the Angel who announced the birth of our Lord Jesus, said to the shepherds.

“In that country there were shepherds lying in the open fields, taking their turns to watch the stock in the night; when all of a sudden an angel of the Lord appear’d to them, and a heavenly light shone about them, at which they were greatly affrighted. but the angel said to them, be not afraid, I am only come to bring you great news, which will be matter of joy to you and to the whole world. for the Lord Messiah your saviour is this day born, in the city of David” Luke 2:8-11 (Mace New Testament)

The birth of Jesus was a proclamation of great joy to the whole universe (see Aramaic Bible in Plain English).

It was a goodnews or good tidings to all people everywhere.

The gospel of our Lord is a news of hope and joy. The gospel of our Lord Jesus is not a message of doom and destruction. It is the news of God’s deliverance and salvation to those who believe.

It is the goodnews of God’s peace, His goodness and loving kindness.

Until you grow in the knowldge of the gospel of our Lord Jesus, you will not walk in total victory.

The gospel is not a message which points to your self efforts or attempts and struggle to obey the law of Moses. The gospel is the revelation of Jesus and the salvation which He brings to mankind through Him.

The gospel does not point you to your weakness, failures and defeats. The gospel is the proclamation of Jesus and all He has accomplished for you. Whenever the gospel is preached you see Jesus in His glory.

Are you hearing the Gospel (Goodnews) of Jesus or you are hearing other news which are not consistent with the revelation of Jesus?

Set your mind on the revelation of Jesus which establishes you in the satisfaction of peace.

UNDERSTANDING THE GOSPEL 2 — THE COMMUNICATION OF GOD’S ETERNAL INTENTION

“Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle (special messenger, personally chosen representative), set apart for [preaching] the gospel of God [the good news of salvation]

    Romans 1:1 (Amplified Bible)

The gospel is the foundational revelation of God’s thoughts.
This gospel is the explanation of God’s intention, plans, purpose and strategy.

Every truth of God is built on the Gospel.

Any revelation which is not consistent with the Gospel is not consistent with God.

God is good (Psalm 100:5) and all that He does can only be good (1 Timothy 4:4). Therefore, any news which comes out of Him is GOODNEWS!

The Gospel is the explanation of God’s mindset and character. It is the articulation of God’s love and the expression of His truth.

The reality of God was communicated as a mystery from the foundation of times.  And was announced plainly at the appearing of our Lord Jesus. Thus, the Gospel is not just an announcement of what the Lord has done, but also the demystification of God’s eternal truth.

“[It is that purpose and grace] which He now has made known and has fully disclosed and made real [to us] through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, Who annulled death and made it of no effect and brought life and immortality (immunity from eternal death) to light through the Gospel.” 2 Timothy 1:10 (Amplified Classics)

The content of the Gospel is an age-long truth. It is the truth which has been in God from the eternal past and not a new trend.

The reality of the Gospel is as old as God’s intentions. The intentions of God are as old as Himself.

    It is ETERNAL!!!

    This Gospel shall never expire!

That is why you don’t treat it as one of the messages. It is not the message to be preached just at evangelistic meetings or crusades. It is not a message to be preached at Easter Conventions.

The Gospel is not only about the sufferings of Christ, His death and His Glorious resurrection. The Gospel includes the impact, effect, and results of the resurrection of Jesus. It is the packaged news of all that God has conceptualised from “eternal past”, wrought in time and harvested in “eternal future”. It is the unravelling of our precious inheritance in His Kingdom.

    The Gospel is JESUS!

For the gospel is all about God’s Son. As a man he descended from David’s royal lineage,  but as the mighty Son of God he was raised from the dead and miraculously set apart with a display of triumphant power supplied by the Spirit of Holiness. And now Jesus is our Lord and our Messiah” Romans 1:3-4 (TPT)

He is the declaration of the unsearchable riches of God’s wisdom and the limitlessness of His power.

God is the first preacher of the Gospel. He preached the Gospel through His handiwork in creation. (Psalm 19:1-2).

The imprints of His glory in creation are proofs of His majestic graciousness.

Even after the adversary in Genesis 3 attempted to corrupt God’s creation, God announced His good news, saying, “the seed of the woman shall crush the head of the serpent…” (Genesis 3:15)

The Lord God called out to Abraham and preached the Gospel to him.

God foretold the Gospel to Abraham (Galatians 3:8), that he might know His ultimate intention.

Even in the days of Noah, God presented the Gospel to him through the building of the ark.

Listen to my teaching on Noah’s ark.

The sacrifices, offerings, ceremonies or festivals, blessings, Prophecies, and etc, were testimonies of the glorious news of God. God was preaching the gospel or announcing His good news all throughout the scriptures.

God announced His intention even before the appearing of Jesus. So all the utterances of God in the scriptures (Old Testament portion of the Bible) pointed to the appearing of Christ. When Christ came, the goodnews of God was fully manifested.

The intentions of God have been unveiled through Christ.

Now any message preached or proclaimed as the Gospel is to enlighten and culture the saints to walk in the manifestation and fulfilment of God’s eternal intention.

    UNDERSTANDING THE GOSPEL 1

“Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle (special messenger, personally chosen representative), set apart for [preaching] the gospel of God [the good news of salvation]”

    Romans 1:1 (Amplified Bible)

There is nothing like the newness of life ( or “Christianity”) without the gospel of Jesus.

From the previous episode of Machaira with Apostle Bennie, I explained that the word gospel simply means good news or good message or good tidings.

When you see the expression, the gospel of Jesus Christ (Mark 1:1) or the Gospel of God (Romans 1:1), they simply mean the Goodnews of Jesus Christ or the Goodnews of God. These are not two different things; they mean the same thing.

Some also claim that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the same as the Gospel of the Kingdom, but not the same as the Gospel of the Grace of God.

They assume Jesus in His earthly walk did not preach the Gospel (Goodnews) of Grace, but rather preached the Gospel (Goodnews) of the Kingdom of God.

    They built their argument on:

“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.” Matthew 4:23 (NKJV)

It is clear most people don’t understand the Gospel (Goodnews) of our Lord Jesus.

Don’t be confused, the Gospel of Jesus, the Gospel of Grace, the Gospel of God and the Gospel of the Kingdom of God are the same GOODNEWS. They don’t mean anything different.

God’s Kingdom is not separated from God. Jesus is the express image of the invisible God (Colossians1:15). He is also the embodiment of the fullness of Grace  (John 1:14) and the embodiment of the Kingdom (Romans 14:17).

The Goodnews of the Kingdom, or the Goodnews (Gospel) of Grace or the Gospel of God, is that God has demonstrated His love towards mankind by the full revelation of His saving plan for man, through Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 1:9-10).

Through the sin of unbelief, man became corrupted, was legally condemned, and eternally separated from God. However, God, who is rich in mercy, manifested His loving kindness through Christ Jesus. He came to suffer and die for the offence of mankind, and was resurrected to justify all who shall believe in Him. Thus, as many as believe in Him shall be delivered from condemnation, be justified (not by their own works) and become partakers of God’s eternal life and the inheritance of His Kingdom (Colossians 1:12-13).

The Gospel of Jesus (or the Gospel of Grace) is that you are saved by grace through faith in Jesus and His finished work of His painful death and His glorious resurrection (Ephesians 2:8-9).

This is the goodnews of Jesus or the Gospel of Grace.

    – Some assume that the Gospel of Grace is only to usher you into “christianity”, but it takes a different message to finish.

    – Some also accept that they are saved by Grace, but cannot stay saved by grace. They remain saved by their own self-efforts and not by grace. To them, the means by which they got saved is not the same means they must remain saved.

    – They think the Gospel of Grace leads men to salvation, and the Gospel of the Kingdom is what keeps men in salvation and brings men into attaining great heights in Christ.

What they fail to understand is that anyone saved by grace is also kept or sustained by grace.

“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him” Colossians 2:6 (NKJV)

There are others also who claim that no man is saved by grace alone. They are saved by grace and works. Which means their salvation is not complete by the finished work of Jesus, but by their own efforts.

When you ask such a person, “Are you saved?”, he will say, “I am not saved yet; it is at the end of my life that I will know, because my works will determine my salvation”.

These people are only ignorant of the reality of the gospel of Jesus.

To think that you are not saved by the grace of Jesus alone but also by your works means that you are saved by both Jesus and your name.

That is contrary to the reality of the scriptures.

“This Jesus is the STONE WHICH WAS DESPISED and REJECTED by you, THE BUILDERS, but WHICH BECAME THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among people by which we must be saved [for God has provided the world no alternative for salvation].” Acts 4:11-12 (Amplified Bible)

Any salvation outside Jesus and what God has provided through Him is not salvation at all. If men can be saved by their own efforts, then Jesus wouldn’t have come to die.

This was Paul the apostle’s response to those who felt they had to use their self-efforts to finish or complete salvation:

“Your new life in the Anointed One began with the Holy Spirit giving you a new birth. Why then would you so foolishly turn from living in the Spirit by trying to finish by your own works?”
