    ARE YOU GROWING? 1

“Instead, by speaking the truth in a spirit of love, we must grow up in every way to Christ, who is the head.

    Ephesians 4:15 (GNT)

    Your growth determines your manifestation.

You are able to handle situations and impact your world according to your inward growth.
Your growth in your understanding of Christ and consciousness of who you are in Him is your growth in the Spirit.
It is your growth into Christ (in all things, mainly His love) by which you become the complete expression of Him in this world.

You cannot express Christ beyond your level of maturity of growth in the spirit.

The highest proof of your growth or maturity in the Spirit is how you walk in Love.

Your love towards God and towards others reveal how you are deeply rooted in Christ. The more your roots grow deep into the love of Christ, the more you mature or grow in the Spirit.

You can be born again for 10 years and not be matured.
Growing in the Spirit is not automatic, it is intentional.
Organisms don’t just grow healthy. It takes the right nutrients and the supply of other needful elements.

Your mind and heart must be cultivated in the love of God.
One who is growing in the spirit has his/her affection set on the Lord and not on his/her own interests. The love of God dominates your heart and influences your action.
Are you growing in the Spirit?
How consistent do you fellowship with the Spirit and the Word?

Or you must be convinced to have a consistent fellowship with the Spirit and the Word?

How excited are you in your heart concerning the things of God?

How do you love the brethren?
Are you bitter, envious, angry and holding on to an offense?

When you are deeply rooted in the love of God,  bitterness, envy and offenses cannot have any place in your heart (because they are fruits or expressions of the self).
The more you grow or mature in the Lord, the more the self is subdued by the love of Christ.

    UNDERSTANDING SPIRITUAL GROWTH

“Instead, by speaking the truth in a spirit of love, we must grow up in every way to Christ, who is the head.”

    Ephesians 4:15 (GNT)

Imagine seeing a 20-year-old lady crying for the mother’s breast milk like a 3-month-old baby.

Clearly, you will know there is a big problem.
Each kind of life has its own designed growth system.
Every organism is expected to grow.

Every plant or crop has an expected season to grow. A yam farmer expects to harvest his crop between 4 to 6 months. It becomes a challenge when it is not ready for harvest within a year or more.

If you have been born again for a while, you may have heard the term “Spiritual Growth“.

People have some strange understanding of Spiritual growth. They perceive spiritual growth as the completeness of your spirit.
There is no incomplete spirit in Christ.
For you have been made complete in Him (Colossians 2:10).

Some assume Spiritual growth means you receive more righteousness, salvation, the life of Christ, holiness, power, and qualification to be a son of God and a citizen of heaven.

Others conclude that you are not a king and a priest until you grow spiritually.

When you come into Christ you are made righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21). You don’t grow your righteousness neither can it be improved.

You can receive more grace, but you cannot receive more righteousness. You receive righteousness as a gift (Romans 5:17).

It is the same with your salvation. You are made Holy in Christ, no saint in Christ is more holy than the other. We all have the holiness of Christ. You only have the responsibility to express that Holiness.

By the obedience of Christ we have been made royal priests (1 Peter 2:9). Now are we the sons of God (1 John 3:2). And as sons, we have equal citizenship in God’s Kingdom and equal access to the Father.
Beloved, your spiritual growth is about your growth in the understanding and consciousness of Christ and who you are in Him.
“Spiritual growth” is not the growth OF your spirit, it is your growth IN THE SPIRIT.

It is your growth into Christ in all things, by which you become the complete expression of Him in this world. It includes the renewal of your mind (Romans 12:2).
To grow in the Spirit is to mature and develop mastery in the expressions of love.
This is when your heart is enriched with the knowledge of Christ and is deeply rooted in His love.
