GOD — YOUR PLACE OF REFUGE

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea”

    Psalm 46:1-2 (KJV)

    BLESSED NEW MONTH!

This month of July is the beginning of the second half of the year 2024.

    Glory to God!

You may be reading this and today is the beginning of your time at a new workspace, and you have a sense of fear.
Today may also mark the beginning of restructuring your plans for the year.
You are reading this now and are also faced with a new challenge and unexpected news that has troubled you.

Your world may seem to be collapsing and you don’t know what to do.

Are you currently overwhelmed by your challenges and you feel suicide is your only escape from the vicissitude circumstance?

It’s too early to give up.

There is a greater option for you beloved of God in Christ.

    Men might have failed you.
You may feel rejected by your family at this moment.
It looks like whichever direction you turn to, doesn’t favor you.

You have stopped praying, you have stopped reading the word, and you are currently planning to stay away from Church.

    That is not the way.

    GOD IS YOUR REFUGE!

Learn to trust in Him as your refuge and strength.

Can you imagine the confidence of a man living in a fortified castle on a hill during heavy rainfall?

He will not be troubled nor moved by the outcome of the rain.

You will find this man enjoying and thanking the Lord for the blessings of rain.

Unlike the homeless or the man who lives in a kiosk.

Both don’t deny the presence of the rain. However, they will both have different reactions towards the rain.

The consciousness of your location defines your attitude towards the storm.

In your time of trouble, don’t run away from God. In your time of trouble, run to God.

Most people see God as the source of their trouble and pain. Some think God leads them into trouble to test their faith.

    No!

That is not God. He is not the source of evil, trouble, pain, and chaos.

Only good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17).

God is not your prison of pain. God is your refuge and strength.

He is not one who helps you today and will fail to help you tomorrow. God is your very present help in times of trouble. He is always present to help you in the now.

The storms may come, the waters may roar, the mountains may be carried into the sea, don’t be afraid nor shaken.

    Remain resolute in the Lord.

Remain confident in who God is and His ability.

Look away from the trouble and look to God, who is your refuge and strength.

    Hallelujah!

    CARTWHEELS OF JOY 2

“I’m singing joyful praise to God. I’m turning cartwheels of joy to my Savior God.”

    Habakkuk 3:18 (MSG)

Get this, you are not sorrowful or joyful because of your situation. You are sorrowful or joyful by choice.

I have explained the above statement in the previous episode.

A Spirit-filled life is a life full of joy.

To be in Christ and to live without joy, means you are living without the consciousness of the presence of Jesus.

As I have explained, don’t allow your life to be defined by your circumstances. Your true life is defined by Jesus.

Look away from the challenges and behold the Lord.

You can’t continue to fix your gaze on Jesus and remain in sorrow. Joy gushes forth from within you. Your atmosphere will be saturated with peace.

When Jesus was conceived in Mary’s womb, Mary visited Elizabeth who was also carrying a baby (who would be later called John the Baptist).
When the baby in Elizabeth’s womb heard the voice of Mary, he leapt and kicked in the womb. (Luke 1:41).

The baby in the womb heard the voice of the one carrying the Saviour.

To leap is a posture of joy. You see joy is expressive and explosive. You cannot say you are joyful and then remain still.

The atmosphere of joy is always contagious. It is an atmosphere of heartfelt laughter, shouts, singing, rejoicing, dancing and jumping.

This is what we call the cartwheel of joy. A cartwheel of joy is a spinning joy.

A cartwheel is a fast physical movement in which you turn in a circle sideways; you put one hand and then the other on the ground, flip your legs straight up into the air and then land your feet one at a time as you stand up straight.

“Though the cherry trees don’t blossom and the strawberries don’t ripen,
Though the apples are worm-eaten and the wheat fields stunted,
Though the sheep pens are sheepless and the cattle barns empty, I’m singing joyful praise to God. I’m turning cartwheels of joy to my Savior God.
Counting on God’s Rule to prevail, I take heart and gain strength.
I run like a deer. I feel like I’m king of the mountain!”
    Habakkuk 3:17-19 (Message)

This is about taking a joyous posture amidst challenges and defeats.

When it seems all things are crumbling around you and you are failing and not being fruitful in all you do, DON’T CRY nor COMPLAIN.

Turn to God. He is the LORD of your SALVATION. As you rejoice in the Lord, you are celebrating the transformation of your situation and declaring your victory over adversity.

Let the joy of the Lord flood your environment.

If there is nothing to rejoice about, YOU HAVE JESUS IN YOUR LIFE. There is no more glorious news to the world than the good news of Jesus.

Beloved, rejoice always in the Lord, again I say rejoice!

    Hallelujah!

    CARTWHEELS OF JOY 1

“I’m singing joyful praise to God. I’m turning cartwheels of joy to my Savior God.”

    Habakkuk 3:18 (MSG)

You just can’t live the higher life of faith when you are dependent on situations or circumstances.

Your life is not defined by what happens to you. Your life is defined by your SOURCE.

The question is, who or what is your source?

    Who do you depend on?

Through whom do you find the true meaning of your life?

The life of the born again is defined by the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You don’t define your life by the circumstances surrounding you. The challenges you face are not to determine the state of your heart.

Your joy and peace must not be dependent on your present situation. Your joy and peace is in Christ. Which means, they have eternal value. That is not the value and longevity of your present challenges or situation.

Your circumstances don’t have eternal value. It doesn’t matter how they come, they will pass away.

Just this book title by Robert Shuller reprogrammed my mindset:
“Tough Times Never Last, But Tough People Do!”

I said to myself, “If tough times never last, then I don’t have to be controlled by these times.”

No wonder Paul never saw himself as a Prisoner in Rome. He always referred to himself as a Prisoner of Christ. He was never limited by those chains and the walls of the prison.

“Now I want you to know, brothers, that my circumstances have actually served to advance the gospel.” Philippians 1:12 (Bereans Standard Bible)

So he said to the Philippians, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice” (Philippians 4:4).

    What a mindset!

Habakkuk the Prophet found himself in a dilemma, which made him misunderstand God at a point. When he saw the cruelty of the Chaldeans against the Israelites, he felt God had refused to help. (Habakkuk 1:2-4;  2:1)

You may find yourself in a situation and begin to feel God has left you and your family. You may seem to be angry with God or doubt his word. The adversary takes delight in such thoughts of doubt towards God.

The adversary sees and capitalizes on your misunderstanding of God to lock you up in your lowest ebb.

Habakkuk was troubled by the sufferings of his people. But being troubled wasn’t the solution. When Habakkuk turned away from his dilemma to focus on the Saving grace of the Lord, an atmosphere of joy sprung up.

He said in his Faith Hymn:

“Though the fig tree does not blossom
And there is no fruit on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive fails
And the fields produce no food,
Though the flock is cut off from the fold
And there are no cattle in the stalls,
    Yet I will [choose to] rejoice in the Lord;
I will [choose to] shout in exultation in the [victorious] God of my salvation!”
     Habakkuk 3:17-18 (Amplified).

    Oh, glory to God!
What is your composure amidst your failures?

You are not sorrowful or joyful because of your situation. You are sorrowful or joyful by choice.

Don’t turn to God with complaints.

By faith behold the saving grace of the Lord and turn cartwheels of joy and praise to your Savior. Your true tranquillity and rest are in God. Therefore rejoice in the Lord!

    Hallelujah!

    JESUS SERVES THE BEST WINE

    (With Imperfect Vessels 2) 4

“And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.”

    John 2:6-7 (KJV)

From the previous discussion, we realised the book of John doesn’t just provide historical details of Jesus.

You are to read and study the book to behold the glory of God manifested in the flesh. The miracles outlined in the book of John represent the variegated richness of the PERSON of Jesus.

In the first chapter of John’s Gospel, he revealed Jesus as the one who has come to reveal the fullness of God.

He said, “No one has ever gazed upon the fullness of God’s splendor except the uniquely beloved Son,
who is cherished by the Father and held close to his heart. Now he has unfolded to us the full explanation of who God truly is!”
    John 1:18 (TPT)

Though it is said, that God spoke to Moses face to face or mouth to mouth, it was still in shadows. God was fully revealed in Christ.

The law was given through Moses, but Christ came as the embodiment of grace and truth. He came to show us God’s true person.

Jesus came to express the glory of the Father.

Now look at what happened when He turned water into wine.

“And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.”
    John 2:10 -11 (KJV).

The miracle of turning water into wine was to reveal His glory (which is the GLORY and REVELATION OF GOD).

Every miracle Jesus did was a sign to show us the Person of God.

There are some who are of the opinion that God doesn’t take an interest in everything that happens in our lives. But that is not the case. Jesus at the wedding ceremony reveals that God attends weddings.

In everything you do, don’t be shy to let God in. He is interested in your affairs.

The interest of God is not to just sit on His throne as the MIGHTY, ALL-POWERFUL GOD, who controls men and weighs their worship and sacrifices.

The interest of God is to love you, to be in you, live through you and be part of all you do.

You cannot explain the fullness of God through Moses.
In Moses, we see water turned into blood, but in Christ, water is turned into wine.

For water to be turned into blood points to death. However, Jesus showed us the essence of life, by turning water into wine. He came not to produce death. He came to produce life, gladness and eternal satisfaction.

The goodness of God was seen through Jesus.

The goodness of God always abound.

Mary came to Jesus saying, “There is no wine”.

Jesus made them fill the six waterpots to the brim.  Each water pot takes 30 gallons. Thus, Jesus produced 150 more gallons for the wedding. They had more than enough, because of Jesus.

I mentioned in the previous post that the number six is the number of Man and also the number of imperfection (seven is also the number of perfection).

Man was made on the sixth day (he will always have something to do with the number 6). And also man who was good became imperfect. This is not to force an interpretation to churn “deeper” revelation. This is a basic symbolism to help appreciate the poetic whispers of the scriptures.

The waterpots are also vessels which can be imperfect because they are breakable.

The best wine Jesus produced didn’t come out of golden vessels with extraordinary water.

Out of this imperfect religious jar came a new fine wine.

“We are like common clay jars that carry this glorious treasure within, so that the extraordinary overflow of power will be seen as God’s, not ours.” 2 Corinthians 4:7 (TPT)

Now, the waterpots were not for the main event. They were used by strict Jewish religious leaders for their religious cleansing as they got on to the main event (Read Mark 7:3-4).

Because of how these waterpots have been used for religious activities, they needed to be refilled with fresh water. And it was filled to the brim. Water is mainly used by John as the symbol of the Spirit-life (John 4, John 7).

For the Lord to bring a perfect wine out of your imperfection, He has to transfuse His overflowing life into you.

As a new creation in Christ, the Lord has filled you with His Spirit-Life. That is an eternal treasure in you.

There is a treasure of God in you. Stop judging yourself by the imperfections. Look inside.

Within you is God’s refreshing answer to the world.

Don’t live as an imperfect vessel. Live according to the treasure of the Spirit within you.

For out of you the Lord is brewing a perfect wine to satisfy the world.

    Hallelujah!
