BEHOLD THE REALITY OF JESUS 1 – DEALING WITH DECEPTION 8

“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ”

    2 Corinthians 11: 3 (NKJV)

Persecution from religious leaders and oppressive political leaders wasn’t the only challenge in the first century. False doctrines or heresies which led to schism, were part of the things the Church contended with. False doctrine is not a new thing in the Church within this century.

The Church has always contended with false doctrines by false Apostles, Prophets and Teachers.

The epistles were written to the Churches to strongly establish the saints in the sound doctrine of Christ and to uproot heretical teachings.

Even from the context of the opening verse Paul the Apostle, pointed out some deceptive teachings in the Church during the first century:

“I am anxious for you with the deep concern of God himself—anxious that your love should be for Christ alone, just as a pure maiden saves her love for one man only, for the one who will be her husband.  But I am frightened, fearing that in some way you will be led away from your pure and simple devotion to our Lord, just as Eve was deceived by Satan in the Garden of Eden. You seem so gullible: you believe whatever anyone tells you even if he is preaching about another Jesus than the one we preach, or a different spirit than the Holy Spirit you received, or shows you a different way to be saved. You swallow it all.  2 Corinthians 11:2-4 (TLB)

These false doctrines which crept into the Church are still lingering.

The same concern the apostles had and their warnings still stand.

And remember, the target of these deceptive teachings is your faith.

The deception of the adversary focuses on the foundational matters of your faith.

When these heretics are able to deceive you with a teaching of another Jesus, they have destroyed the foundation of your faith.

    1. Some sects teach that the Jesus who came to die for sin and your sins is not God. These religious sects have to establish publishing firms just to spread their falsehood.

Any doctrine which declares that Jesus is not God is a great deception.

Many religious groups also uphold such stand that Jesus is not God because God cannot become a man.

Meanwhile, Jesus was persecuted mainly because He referred to Himself several times as God. He only did things God will do and said things only God will say.

“He was justifying the importance of His work on the Sabbath, claiming God as His Father in ways that suggested He was equal to God. These pious religious leaders sought an opportunity to kill Jesus, and these words fueled their hatred.” John 5:18 (Voice)

To the Jews, for Jesus to call God Father means He is God expressed. To be a Son of God is to be God manifested.

Some deceptively proclaimed that if Jesus was God why did He die?

    See what happened:

“When the Centurion and soldiers who had been charged with guarding Jesus felt the earthquake and saw the rocks splitting and the tombs opening, they were, of course, terrified. Soldiers: He really was God’s Son.” Matthew 27:54 (Voice).

Even the soldiers guarding Jesus’ body on the cross beheld the power of His divinity.

“And without controversy great is the [a]mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in the flesh,
    Justified in the Spirit,
    Seen by angels,
    Preached among the Gentiles,
    Believed on in the world,
    Received up in glory.”
     1 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV)

You see when such doctrines succeed, it doesn’t change the divinity of Jesus. It rather affects your confidence in your salvation.

Don’t look away from the reality of Jesus.

    He is God!

He is Eternal and His saving Grace is everlasting!

His blood which purchased you is a divine blood. It is an eternal blood.

    JESUS IS GOD!

    This is the gospel.

BEWARE OF FALSEHOOD IN YOUR MIDST 2 – DEALING WITH DECEPTION 7

“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ”

    2 Corinthians 11: 3 (NKJV)

What do you think was Paul’s greatest concern for the Churches he planted and the people he raised?

It is that they will not be moved away from the gospel of Jesus.

And that is the same concern of all the Apostles of Jesus.

Today’s Church has a different understanding of who a False Teacher, False Prophet and False Apostle is in their midst.

Most Teachers, Prophets and Apostles who will be called false are now celebrated by “Christians” as True teachers.

The Church doesn’t know the difference between another gospel and the true gospel of Jesus.

In the previous episode, I mentioned how Paul instructed the leaders in Ephesus to be watchful of false teachers and prophets.

He called these false teachers, ferocious wolves. And he said they will speak perverse and distorted things (Acts 20:29-30).

These things they speak are contrary to the gospel of Jesus. Remember, there are no two gospels. The gospel of Jesus is the gospel of Grace.

    See Paul’s commendation:

“And now I commend you to God [placing you in His protective, loving care] and [I commend you] to the word of His grace [the counsel and promises of His unmerited favor]. His grace is able to build you up and to give you the [rightful] inheritance among all those who are sanctified [that is, among those who are set apart for God’s purpose–all believers].” Acts 20:32 (Amplified).

Falsehood has always been in contrast to the revelation or the gospel (the goodnews) of Jesus.

Look at the opening verse in context:

“I am anxious for you with the deep concern of God himself—anxious that your love should be for Christ alone, just as a pure maiden saves her love for one man only, for the one who will be her husband.  But I am frightened, fearing that in some way you will be led away from your pure and simple devotion to our Lord, just as Eve was deceived by Satan in the Garden of Eden. You seem so gullible: you believe whatever anyone tells you even if he is preaching about another Jesus than the one we preach, or a different spirit than the Holy Spirit you received, or shows you a different way to be saved. You swallow it all.”  2 Corinthians 11:2-4 (TLB)

The simplicity of Jesus is the gospel of Jesus. Your commitment to the gospel is your pure and simple devotion to Jesus.

Stand strong in the glorious revelation of Jesus.

Also, note that not all false gospel is preached by fake Pastors or Teachers or Apostles. There are people who are genuinely called of God and sent by Christ, yet may find themselves teaching another gospel.

It doesn’t mean the people are false, but their message or aspects of their teachings may be false.

    For example:

One will teach that, “You are saved only by grace through faith in Christ Jesus and not by works”.

    That is the true gospel.

However, after this person gets people saved, he begins to teach the saints another gospel saying, “Though you are now saved, you can lose your salvation. Your salvation is not forever, it depends on your good works”.

Beloved, this is a clear example of false teaching.

To say one will lose his salvation is to say that, the blood of Jesus is not enough to satisfy the demand of Justice. (I gave over 50 reasons you cannot lose your Salvation, click here to watch).

To understand Justification read the following:

    Justification 1 – 3

    Justified by Faith

    Christ’s won freedom wasn’t partial

    The Case is closed

    What shall separate you?

Your salvation only depends on the good works of Jesus. It is not dependent on your works. (Ephesians 2:9).

Now, because you have been made righteous by Jesus, you live right unto God’s glory.

    This is the gospel.

    Hallelujah!

    (Galatians 1:6-12; 1 Timothy 4:1; 2 Timothy 4:3-4; Hebrews 3:7 -19; Ephesians 4:11- 15; Acts 20:28-32)

    WE PRAY

We pray that we will not be given to another gospel but will consciously remain strong in the simplicity of the gospel and not swallow any other teaching at all.

    In the name of Jesus!

BEWARE OF FALSEHOOD IN YOUR MIDST – DEALING WITH DECEPTION 6

“bringing down reasonings, and every high thing lifted up against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of the Christ”

2 Corinthians 10:5 (Literal Standard Version)

Deception is falsehood packaged as revelation.

You don’t just take in every message or teaching as divine revelation.

Judge every revelation through the lens of Jesus.

“God, having spoken to the fathers long ago in [the voices and writings of] the prophets in many separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the truth], and in many ways, has in these last days spoken [with finality] to us in [the person of One who is by His character and nature] His Son [namely Jesus], whom He appointed heir and lawful owner of all things, through whom also He created the universe [that is, the universe as a space-time-matter continuum].” Hebrews 1:1-2 (Amplified)

The revelation of Jesus is the final complete revelation of God. Any thought which is not consistent with the knowledge of Christ must be cast down.

Don’t be gentle about it. Treat it as an attack against your faith. See it as warfare!

I mentioned in the previous episode that, the effect of deception is stronger when it’s from within.

I did focus on how the adversary sows wrong thoughts in your heart. However, before the adversary will make his thoughts appealing to you, he has to creep into a circle you can trust.

This is why False Prophets and False Teachers are mostly not outside the Church.

They creep their way into the Church, impress the brethren, everyone accepts them and then it becomes easy for them to spread their falsehood.

Paul the apostle in his farewell message to the elders in Ephesus, mentioned how false teachers will rise among them and gave them the solution:

“I know that after I am gone, [false teachers like] ferocious wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; even from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse and distorted things, to draw away the disciples after themselves [as their followers].” Acts 20:29-30 (Amplified).

Don’t assume anyone mentioning the name of Jesus is teaching the accurate revelation of Jesus. Have an open-mind to learn, yet don’t easily buy into everything you hear. Be like the Bereans, search the scriptures to confirm every teaching. (Acts 17:11).

Paul the apostle gave the elders in Ephesus the solution:

“Therefore be continually alert, remembering that for three years, night or day, I did not stop admonishing and advising each one [of you] with tears. And now I commend you to God [placing you in His protective, loving care] and [I commend you] to the word of His grace [the counsel and promises of His unmerited favor]. His grace is able to build you up and to give you the [rightful] inheritance among all those who are sanctified [that is, among those who are set apart for God’s purpose–all believers].” Acts 20:31-32 (Amplified).

Give your heart and mind to the understanding of the Word of His grace. For grace and truth came through Jesus (John 1:17).

When you are well rooted and built by the word of His grace you will not become a victim of falsehood.

    GUARD YOUR HEART –

    DEALING WITH DECEPTION 5

“bringing down reasonings, and every high thing lifted up against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of the Christ”

2 Corinthians 10:5 (Literal Standard Version)

The effect of deception is stronger when it’s from within.

In the same way, the impact of truth is stronger when it’s established within you.

The heart is the seat of unbelief or belief.

“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:8-10 (NKJV)

No matter how the gospel is preached to you until you believe in your heart, you cannot be saved. The heart is the core of your being.

Whatever happens to man must first germinate in his heart.
Whatever goes on in your journey of destiny, has its root in the belief system of your heart.

This is why your heart is the target of the adversary.

To deal with deception, you must guard your heart.

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” Proverbs 4:24 (NLT).

The author of Hebrews warned the saints concerning this same matter:

“Take care, brothers and sisters, that there not be in any one of you a wicked, unbelieving heart [which refuses to trust and rely on the Lord, a heart] that turns away from the living God. But continually encourage one another every day, as long as it is called “Today” [and there is an opportunity], so that none of you will be hardened [into settled rebellion] by the deceitfulness of sin [its cleverness, delusive glamour, and sophistication].” Hebrews 3:12-13 (Amplified Bible)

The moment deception creeps into your heart, unbelief will germinate in you. You will begin to doubt the promise of God’s word. You will even turn away from the way of the Spirit to trust in the might of the flesh. This is how the adversary crushes the confidence of many saints.

And sometimes for the adversary to sow deceptive thoughts into your heart, he uses many methods to isolate you from the brethren. Or he lures you into a wrong association.

He could use offenses, bitterness or fleshy pleasures to draw you away from the saints.

When you are among the saints, your heart will be encouraged and guarded through the ministry of the word of grace. Your thoughts and passions are directed toward the Lord when you fellowship with the Word and also the saints.

You are cultivated in the truth of the word and enabled to cast down imaginations which are not consistent with the knowledge of Christ.

    Selah

  • EPISODE 9 – DO THESE FOUR THINGS

    MACHAIRA

    (Pronounced makh’-ahee-rah)

    – Daily revelatory thoughts to sharpen you and to help you grow in deep spiritual understanding and knowledge.

    – Scriptures for your daily meditation.

    – Daily Christ-centered and apostolic-prophetic prayers.

This is our MONTH OF MEDITATION
And our Year of BEHOLDING THE KINGDOM
    GLORY AND POWER.

    Tuesday, 31st January, 2023

    DO THESE FOUR THINGS

Today is the climax of the first month of this new year. You don’t need to wait till the ending of the year before you make the most of every opportunity. You must be intentional with your decisions and
choices. This is why I am sharing these four crucial items with you today.

    DO THESE FOUR THINGS:

    1. Write down your plans plainly
“And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.” Habbakuk 2:2

Yes, its good to keep Divine inspirations to heart. However, you should also write them plainly. Write plainly the things the Lord has inspired you to
do in His Kingdom and Ministry, Business and Finance, Academics or Education and Family. Don’t assume you will remember all the the
inspirations of the Spirit. Whiles you pray or fellowship with the Spirit keep your notes by you. As you read, study and meditate on the scriptures, keep a writing material.

    2. Get into Prayer.
“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established”. Proverbs 16:3 (NASB)

Prayer is not just to be done in January. Prayer must be your daily habit. It must be part of your life and living. Don’t just have one good day of prayer.
“Men always ought to pray” (Luke 18:1), “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thess. 5:17).

Understand that Prayer is not just to have God to answer your requests; through Prayer you are supplied with grace and ability to do.
“We plan the way we want to live, but only God
makes us able to live it” Proverbs 16:9 (MSG)

Through prayer you receive clarity of purpose and also submit the totality of God’s inspirations and ideas to you, back to Him. You put God in charge.
    (Read Proverbs 16:3 Message Translation).

    3. Get into Action.
“Get up, for this matter is your responsibility, and we will support you. Be strong and take action! ” Ezra 10:4 (Berean Study Bible)

Those ideas and plans were not to be locked up in your notes as prayer topics. Plans are to be executed. You have to act on the plans as the Lord has given you grace and ability to do. You must act with a
sense of urgency. “Now that you know these things, you will be
blessed if you do them.” John 13:17 (NIV)

    4. Maintain Consistency.
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up” Galatians 6:9

Consistently plan, write the ideas, pray and move into action. It takes discipline and diligence to be consistent. This year is a great year for you.

    Remain Blessed.

    Shalom.

    DIG DEEPER:
    (Deut. 1:6-8;
    Psalm 119:60; 1 Peter 1:13)

    WE PRAY
That the Lord will guide our steps as we execute all
that He has inspired us to do. In the name of Jesus.

BIBLE READING IN THE YEAR 2023
    Day 2: Genesis 4-7

    DECLARE THESE WORDS:
    – I put God’s plans and ideas to work.

    – I have fresh
ability to do what God inspires me to do.

    – I act
    diligently and consistently.

    Shalom!
