PURSUE THE LION

“There was also Benaiah son of Jehoiada, a valiant warrior from Kabzeel. He did many heroic deeds, which included killing two champions of Moab. Another time, on a snowy day, he chased a lion down into a pit and killed it.
1 Chronicles 11:22 (NLT)

The beautiful outcomes you see in the scriptures weren’t magical nor automatic.

They were as a result of great demonstrations of faith.

There is no beautiful story without intentional processes.

You may read the wondrous testimonies in the scriptures and assume you cannot have the capacity to produce such results.

However, the scriptures did not just list the inevitable outcomes of these patriarchs. A careful study of the scriptures will bring you to the understanding of the processes.

When you give your mind to the scriptures, you will not be pinned to uncertainties.

Paul the apostle said, “for whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.” Romans 15:4 (Amplified Bible)

One of the great characters in the scriptures is one of the mighty men of David, Benaiah.

You can read the opening verse for this episode again (just in case you didn’t pay attention whiles reading).

I believe you’ve done that right?

What you just read in the opening verse about Benaiah wasn’t a fluke. The story of Benaiah wasn’t a myth or an old fable. God took his time to introduce in scriptures, the story of Benaiah. His exploit were recorded in the scriptures to inspire faith in the hearts of every reader.

The story of Benaiah unveils a model of the daring man of faith.

For a man to chased or pursue a lion shows the posture and attitude you need to have for the Lord’s call on your life. This man did not defend himself by running away from the lion. He went after the lion.

Beniah’s exploit of faith got him to be appointed as a special guard to David and later became a commander in chief under King Solomon (1 Kings 2:35).

Beloved PURSUE THE LION.

When Benaiah was confronted by a lion he had the option of fight or flight. And he chose to fight.

You may think this had nothing to do with faith but was just a skill he had. He did have skill, but took an exceptional task because he had faith.

He did not pursue a lion by skill, he pursue the lion by faith.

“And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets— who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Hebrews 11:33-34 (ESV)

Oh glory to God.

When you are confronted by a challenge you have the option to fight or flight.

But they that are of faith don’t take the option of flight. By faith you confront the target and task. You may only choose the option of flight because of fear.

Don’t allow fear to dictate your decision. Fear produces death, but faith to boldly confront those fear will cause you to experience life.

Don’t let fear dominate your heart.

“…through faith… they put the armies to flight.”

God’s dream in your heart for the year maybe as fierce as a lion. It may be as heavy as a lion is to man. But don’t allow the size of your dreams to intimidate you. Big dreams shouldn’t scare you.

You can’t have a big God and be afraid to pursue big dreams; if you are afraid of big dreams then you doubt the greatness of God.

Your audacity to confront challenges to prevail influences the steps you take.

Go after God-size dreams.

What dream has God put in your heart? What LION do you need to pursue this year?

Don’t run away. Don’t doubt God’s dream in your heart.

Don’t wait to be fully ready before you pursue that dream.

Step forward in faith as the Lord inspires your heart and you will know the LORD has been getting you ready for the dream. Exercise yourself in faith and you will unlearn your fears.

To exercise yourself in faith is mainly obedience to God. It is not whether you will fail or succeed; it is mainly about your obedience to God.

People don’t take steps to execute God’s vision because they are afraid to fail. Why will you allow fear of failure make you walk in disobedience?

Choose obedience over failure or success. Take the first step of faith and it will be a giant step of glory.

The Kingdom you belong to in christ, we don’t run from big dreams, we confront them.

God wants to write His story through your life. Exercise the courage to pursue your LION this year. The set time is now, dare to manifest greater results.

Hallelujah!
