EPISODE 810 – PRACTICAL WAYS TO HONOUR YOUR LEADERS – Esteem Your Leader Highly In LOVE 2

CHRIST COMMONWEALTH-COMMUNITY

The Love-Life Agency

Whatever you do, look beyond yourself interest, or satisfaction. Whatever you do must not be according to your will or desire but unto God’s glory and honor. You don’t do things just to please yourself. You don’t do things just because it is a sin or not. The question is: How does it GLORIFY GOD?

PRACTICAL WAYS TO HONOUR YOUR LEADERS – Esteem Your Leader Highly In LOVE 2

“and [we ask that you appreciate them and] hold them in the highest esteem in love because of their work [on your behalf]. Live in peace with one another.”

1 Thessalonians 5:13 (Amplified Bible)

The first practical way to appreciate and honour your leaders is to hold them in the highest esteem, in love.

From yesterday’s episode, I explained the degree or magnitude to which God wants you to esteem your leaders.

I used the three key words (esteem, very and highly) in the expression, “…and to esteem them very highly in love…If you haven’t read it, I want you to read it. If you have, it will be great if you re-read it.

Appreciating and honouring your leaders is an important item for building up the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Though leaders must not accept to be worshipped, they should wholeheartedly accept to be honoured. Spiritual leaders must not just be the ones responsible for magnifying their office. The saints must also magnify the office of their leaders.

To esteem your Spiritual leaders very highly is part of the instructions Paul the apostle gave to the Church even as they look forward to the appearing and coming of the Lord Jesus.

To esteem your spiritual leaders very highly is to:

exceedingly, vehemently, more abundantly above, beyond measure, place above or super hype or highly rank your leaders’ degree of influence and impact.

You may be reading this, and probably only a few people within your village know your leader in a small house Church. It doesn’t matter; the Lord expects you to highly esteem that leader.

Having said that, you should understand that leaders are not esteemed very highly just because of their title or intellectualism. The scriptures are clear on this:

“And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.” 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (KJV)

Did you see it? Your leaders:

Labour, rule, guide, admonish and care for you.

Therefore, you esteem them very highly because of their work.

This also doesn’t mean you should walk in dishonour because they don’t work at the level of expectation.

Nonetheless, leaders must not be lazy or bossy. Leaders must put their heart and hands into the assignment the Lord has given them as people who will give an account to Him (Hebrews 13:17).

To esteem your leaders very highly means:

– To honour in a most extraordinary degree of love.

You will notice Paul the apostle didn’t just say “…esteem them very highly…”

He said, “…esteem them very highly IN LOVE“.

This defines the context of honour and sets the tone of difference between idolizing and highly esteeming leaders.

The foundation of idolization is fear, intimidation, terror and sensuality.

The foundation of honour in the New Testament Church is LOVE (agape).

You don’t esteem your leaders because you are afraid of them. You honourably think of them in love and genuine affection. You must regard and magnify your leaders with a special love and not with hypocrisy.

The work, impartation and effort of your leaders to bring transformation in your life and to serve the purpose of God in you should also fuel your love and genuine honour for them.

Do you love your leader?
When was the last time you celebrated your leader?
Do you appreciate their efforts?
Do you acknowledge your leader for his or her selflessness?
Do you celebrate your football club more than what the Lord is doing in your assembly and also through your Leader?

Are you celebrating your spiritual leader or the one trending?

How do you honour your leader?

These are questions for your heart.

This conversation inspires the heart of your leader, strengthens the Church,  and benefits you as a person.

Awesome.
This episode defines the boundary of how we highly honour and esteem our leaders. But love in itself is boundless. Our leaders have given everything to serve us and ensure God’s will is fulfilled in our lives.

God says, we should vehemently and intentional honor them highly. Despite the fact that they may not live to expectations, it is our charge to honor them. Honoring our leaders in love implies it is a freewill activity and Holy Spirit driven.

Leaders that have become idols have fearful, intimidated, terrorized and sensual members. However, in a place of Love, there is freedom and willingness to obey God’s word.

This episode is refreshing!

Another refreshing episode.
The scriptures emphasise that, for the sake of the WORK of leaders, they deserve to be honoured.

This is indeed true, looking at the extrenous work of leaders in labouring, ruling, guiding, admonishing and caring for those set under them, it is an honourable gesture to highly esteemed them and to do it in love.

Leaders are architects of transformation. True leaders labour extensively to churn out transformation in the lives of those they lead. Unfortunately, in a world where expectations are so insatiable, its easy to dismiss your leader/s for not “meeting your expectations”.

Genuine and passionate affection for my leader/s is a necessary virtue that should be upheld at all times. Not hypocritically, but IN LOVE

True Hypocrisy is when you pretend to follow the instructions of your leader  not with genuine love but it has become a normal routine or activity
as apostle Paul said we have to esteem and do what he instructs more in his absence that proves genuine love and true reverence to your leader and one of the most deadliest thing one must not  do is to talk ill behind your leader but pretend to hail him when he is his presence
we should know anyone who leads us is ordained by God and what ever we do to them shows our true response and reaction to God. Leaders are also not be people who lead men who are afraid of him or her because of their actions but must have a loving atmosphere where people can easily approach and talk to this in a way kicks out idolization because now there is no fear but a relationship that has true respect and honor as its foundation
