NOW COMFORT AND EDIFY ONE ANOTHER WITH THIS 1
“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”Â
1 Thessalonians 5:11 (KJV)
The Church, from her inception, has suffered hostility, threats, political persecution, philosophical persecution, and both mental and physical torture.
All these are attempts to crush and destroy the mission of the Church.
Take note:
The Church is the aggregation of all the saints in Christ.
Therefore, don’t think of the Church as an institution separated from you. You are part of the very constitution of the Church. The Church is the body of Christ, the herald of God’s eternal purpose. The city is set on the hill, giving hope to a hopeless world. The Church is the torch of God in a world overwhelmed by gross darkness. It is the divine salt pack that preserves and gives taste to the earth.
This is why the adversary has always seen the Church as a threat.
There have been attempts to destroy the Church through heretical and deceptive doctrines.
Matters that are to bring hope to the Church were diluted with error. And it’s with the intention to corrupt the hope of the saints and produce fear in their hearts.
Over the centuries, the news of Jesus’s coming has been seen as news of doom for all mankind.Â
However, the coming of Jesus is a day of hope, joy, and the full manifestation of glory for those in Christ.
If you have followed these episodes on 1 Thessalonians 5, you should be established in this certainty: the believer is not appointed for wrath but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus, who died for us.
Paul the apostle addressed the matter of the coming of our Lord Jesus to comfort the hearts of the saints.
No matter how the people of the world will mock, persecute, Â or attack the Church, we must be comforted with the reality that our Lord cometh.
Take a look at verse 11 of 1 Thessalonians 5, again:
“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”
The sentence begins with “Wherefore”, the Greek word is “dio”, which simply means, “therefore”, or for which cause or consequently.
The word “dio” or “Wherefore” as used in the verse is a logical connector. It introduces an explanation that emphasizes the logical outcome or necessity of an action or belief.
Paul the apostle used “wherefore” in the verse to draw an inference from what he had previously stated.
This explains that as believers we are to comfort and edify one another on the grounds of this truth that:
– God has not appointed us to wrath.
– He has appointed us to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus, who died for us.
– And that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with the Lord Jesus.
No believer is to threaten another believer with the coming of Jesus.Â
Instead, we are instructed through the epistles to comfort one another with the news of the coming of Jesus.
Hallelujah!

Wow glory to God
This passage is exploring the theme of comfort and hope in the face of persecution and hostility towards the Church. The author emphasizes that the Church is not just an institution, but the collective body of believers in Christ, and that each individual is part of this body.
The passage highlights the importance of mutual comfort and edification among believers, particularly in the face of adversity. The author encourages believers to draw strength and hope from the fact that they are part of the Church, which is the body of Christ and the herald of God’s eternal purpose.
The passage also touches on the idea that the coming of Jesus Christ is a day of hope and joy for believers, rather than a day of doom. The author emphasizes that believers are not appointed for wrath, but for salvation through Jesus Christ.
The use of the Greek word “dio” (translated as “wherefore” or “therefore”) at the beginning of verse 11 suggests that the author is drawing a conclusion based on the preceding discussion. The author is encouraging believers to take comfort and hope in the fact that they are part of the Church, and to edify one another in the face of adversity.
I am comforted and I comfort the brethren
I don’t live in fear
I am comforted as I await His coming
THANK YOU LORD JESUS!!!!
MY GOD HAS NOT APPOINTED ME UNTO WRATH
I refuse to be troubled at heart.
I am comforted by this very reality
God has not appointed to wrath but to obtain salvation through Christ Jesus. This is a message of comfort as we prepare to meet Jesus. He is coming not with a sword but with His reward for all of us.
Oh what great comfort!!
We are not alone
Glory to God
I comfort myself with these things
Hallelujah
‘The Church is the torch of God in a world overwhelmed by gross darkness. It is the divine salt pack that preserves and gives taste to the earth.’
this statement really got to me so without the church the world has not yet tasted sweetness. The world has been bitter since sin entered the picture and because of its nature the world thinks its temporary pleasure is brings them fulfillment but less did they know the eternal joy that is found in the sweetness the church carries
Religion will define the coming of the Lord wrongly to men always if they give themselves to its lies. Because religion doesn’t show you the secret to overcome sin but rather shows you the end of a sinner. but they that have come to believe are exposed to light which shows them their identity which gives them the power over sin and therefore knows their true position already in the coming of our lord Jesus so we fret not but rather rejoice and make many know about this great news so that the knowledge of Christ will flood and drown the world as the waters covers the Sea
This is a warning to those believers who want to deliberately scare people
