THE HOPE OF SALVATION 2 –

THE BELIEVERS THREEFOLD CORD 5

“But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope ~f salvation.”

1 Thessalonians 5:8 (KJV)

To put on the hope of salvation is to guard your thoughts with the glorious news of the saving grace of Jesus.

The hope of salvation is not just what you will have or what shall happen to you in the future.

The hope of salvation is not essentially the reward of your good works.

To put on the hope of salvation is not to have an expectation of a salvation that is separated from the salvation we have received in Christ.

The hope of salvation is Christ Jesus and what He has accomplished for all who have received Him.

The Psalmist said, “The Lord is my salvation…” (Psalm 27:1).

Salvation is not just a thing. Salvation is a person and He is Jesus.

There is no salvation of God outside Christ.

“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among people by which we must be saved [for God has provided the world no alternative for salvation].”
Acts 4:12 (Amplified Bible)

To be saved is to be delivered from the power of darkness, and be translated into the Kingdom of His dear Son (Colossians 1:13).

Through salvation you are begotten anew into God and his life is transfused into you. This is a spiritual experience and this you obtained through faith in Christ Jesus and not by your works or self-efforts (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Some conclude that the hope of salvation in the verse is only about the future salvation of our bodies from this mortality. Definitely, there is going to be this glorious experience of immortality. However, this “future salvation” is a dimensional experience or the fruit of the salvation that we have received in Christ.

The ultimate Salvation is Christ. Christ transcends immortality. Immortality is a quality or an expression of the quality of His life.
As we have His life we have the hope that we shall experience the glory of God through His coming.

The Hope we have must be centered on the all-encompassing reality of the salvation we have received in Christ Jesus.

This hope is living.

A man without Christ is estranged from the household of God. Such a person has no hope and is without God (Ephesians 2:12).

The new creation or born again, is begotten into an inheritance of great hope.

According to God’s extravagant fountain of mercy which He has shown through Christ, we are reborn to experience a living, energetic hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (1 Peter 1:3).

This hope shall not diminish and not perish or be defiled. This hope is living because the life of Christ is its source. The hope that we have in Christ is built and depends on the life of Christ.

It is therefore an error to be born again and be thinking and living as one who is hopeless. To be hopeless is to live in the confidence of your own effort. To be hopeless is to be faithless.

When you set your confidence on what Christ has accomplished through His death and resurrection, you will not just have hope; you will have a living hope.
This makes the future exciting. Because we don’t look forward to a day of doom. We don’t look forward to a season of rejection, denial, pain, sorrow wrath, and condemnation.

As we have put on the hope of salvation as our helmet, we rejoice at His coming.

Hallelujah!
DIG DEEPER
(1 John 3:1-3; Romans 5:3-5; Colossans 1:5; Titus 3:5-7; Hebrews 10:23; 1 Peter 1:13; 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17)

WE PRAY
We pray that our minds shall be saturated with the glorious revelation of our eternal inheritance in Christ as the helmet of the hope of Salvation.

Amazing!
The hope of salvation is not some far-fetched experience, it is not in hope that we will be saved again, the hope of salvation is not something different from being born-again.
It is this assurance we have that our brother and master is coming, and, in His appearing, we will not be rejected or denied or put to shame.

The helmet of salvation brings us in a living hope. To be hopeless is to look at oneself effort, but to behold the Lord is to be brought into a true and living Hope.

This salvation didn’t come to us according to our own efforts or hard work. It came entirely by Christ, in our acceptance and belief, we were translated from the power of darkness unto God and from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God’s love son. This spiritual activity expressed physically made us saved.

The consciousness of this is the helmet of salvation.

Thank you Jesus
