HEARING GOD’S VOICE 5 –
Does God Speak Today? 2
“I will hear what God the LORD will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly”
Psalm 85:8 (NKJV)
Does God still speak to Christians/believers apart from the canonized Bible?
There are some scholastic circles who are of the opinion that, God doesn’t speak directly to people except by what has been written in the Bible (which is the Word of God).
This is because of Hebrews 1:1-2 :
“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son…” Hebrews 1:1-2 (KJV)
So they conclude that apart from the Bible, God doesn’t speak directly to Christians/believers.
God still spoke to Believers even after the “Old Testament” books were written. Jesus and His disciples made references to the scriptures (Old Testament books) in their teachings.
Though those scriptures (Genesis to Malachi) were available, the first disciples of Jesus and members of the first Church experienced God speaking to them directly.
However understand that, they had the scriptures as the foundational evidence for the revelations or the spiritual understanding they received.
So even in Berea, after Paul had taught them the word of Christ, they went back to examine the scriptures to confirm if the teaching of Paul was true.
“And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth” Acts 17:11 (New Living Translation).
These people examined all that Paul taught them from Genesis to Malachi.
Jesus did the same, “And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” Luke 24:27 (NKJV)
We see here also that, Jesus didn’t just teach the revelation of Himself without the scriptures. He addressed every reality using the scriptures as proof.
When God became flesh (as Jesus), He used the scriptures as the witness of His revelation. According to Jesus, the scriptures do not contradict His revelation. Instead, they testify of Him.
It is in this same understanding you must also interpret the speaking of God.
Whatever God says to you directly will not contradict the revelation of the scriptures.
One thing you must take note of is this:
The Bible rather provides evidence that God still speaks to men today.
However, whatever He says to you will not contradict His revelation as written in the scriptures (the Bible).
Look at what Jesus said:
“There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.”John 16: 12 – 15 (New Living Translation)
Every speaking of God is consistent with His Word. Jesus is the person of the Word, thus, whatever God tells you will be consistent with the revelation of Jesus. The Bible is also the written Word of God; which also means, whatever God tells you will be consistent with the written Word. The written word (the Bible) is consummate as the revelation of Jesus.
Beloved in Christ, have this conviction that God speaks to you. You don’t have to be an Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Teacher or Pastor before God will speak to you or before you will hear the voice of the Lord.
This is the privilege of every child of God.
Selah.
I am attentive to the. Voice of God
I’m privilege to have the gift of the voice of God
God speaks to me ….

Hebrews 2:3 AMPC
[3] How shall we escape [appropriate retribution] if we neglect and refuse to pay attention to such a great salvation [as is now offered to us, letting it drift past us forever]? For it was declared at first by the Lord [Himself], and it was confirmed to us and proved to be real and genuine by THOSE WHO PERSONALLY HEARD [HIM SPEAK].
Whatever God tells you will be consistent to the revelation of
Jesus !
Thank you Lord for this privilege….
God speaks to me and I hear His voice
Romans 15:4 MSG
[4] Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure it’s written for us. God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever he will do next.
I am attentive to the voice of God.
I grow in the knowledge of His Word.
Glory to God.
Thank you sweet Jesus.
I hear your voice through your word
God speaks to me
Thank You Lord Jesus
I am attentive to the voice of God

Thank you Jesus for the privilege to here you.
i am attentive to the voice of God and grow in revelation to rightly perceive his voice
Through the understanding of the word, I rightly perceive the voice of God.
I am attentive to the speaking of God to me.
I’m attentive everyday to the teaching of God’s word
I grow daily in the revelation of God’s word
I’m concious of who l am
Great to know this . Understanding that what ever God says is not parallel to His word is great. I have learnt one great truth. Every message, prophecy must be firm the revelation of Christ. God’s speaks to me always. Thank you Jesus
Oh hallelujah
I hear when the Lord speaks both in scriptures and by the Spirit.
Thank you Apostle
To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. John 10:3
Thank you Jesus
I love you Jesus!!!!
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: Romans 8:16
Thank you Jesus!!!!!!
I am attractive to the speaking of the lord to me
Thank you Jesus!!!
Thank you very Apostle
Exactly Sir.
God speaks to us directly by the conduit of the Holy Spirit. However, the direct speaking of God to us does not contradict the written word.
Glory to God !
Dear lord Jesus I pray that I shall be attentive to the speaking of God
and also grow in the revelation of the word so that I can rightly perceive the voice of the Lord when He speaks. In the mighty name of Jesus
Thank you Jesus for the privilege of hearing you through the revelation of your word
whatever you hear must coincide with the revelation there must be a sync then it is the voice of the lord
John.10.4 And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. (NKJV)
I know the voice of my Father (God )
I hear him according to his plans and purpose for my life according to his programming
Glory to Jesus i hear the audible voice of Jesus
God speaks to me directly, it is my privilege (My sheep hear my voice John 10: 27), yet when He speaks, it is consistent with the written word. “And as they fasted and prayed, the Holy Ghost said, separate for me, Paul and Barnabas for the Work I have set before them”, this is God’s speaking, yet this is not in contradiction to the Bible.
Thank you, Sir,
