HEARING GOD’S VOICE 4 –
Does God Speak Today? 1
“I will hear what God the LORD will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly” Psalm 85:8 (NKJV)
Three questions have been answered in this discussion so far:
3. What are the intentions of God’s speaking?
If God speaks then His voice is not a mere human hypothesis. The scriptures have proven beyond doubt that He speaks and has a voice.
Now one relevant question to our today’s world is:
Does God still speak to Christians/believers apart from the canonized Bible?
This is an important question because every genuine, consistent and sound Bible student will affirm that the Bible is not just a collection of books by different authors, but the Word of God.
I have taught an entire course on the Authenticity of the Bible as the Word of God and The canonisation of the Bible.

The word canon is from the Greek word “kanōn” which means the “standard” or “rule”.
The collected books of the Bible which were canonized were taken through a standardized process of testing. The canonization of the books of the Bible went through several processes. It was done not by just an individual but by Jewish Rabbis and scholars around and then later by the early Church fathers in the first century.
Jesus our Lord recognized several books of the “Old Testament” portion of the Bible as scriptures or the Word of God. He made references to these books. He acknowledged all the present books of the Old Testament as the scriptures. The Apostles also did the same. They recognized and made references from the various books of the Old Testament. They treated the scriptures as the Word of God.
They also did the same with the writings of the other Apostles. Paul’s writings were recognized by Peter and the other saints as scriptures (2 Peter 3:15-16).
The epistles of the Apostles were read by the Churches as they do read the Old Testament scriptures. (Colossians 4:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Nehemiah 8:1-6).
These books of the Bible are scriptures and are all the outbreathing of God.
“All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]” 2 Timothy 3:16 (Amplified Bible).

All the sixty-six (66) books of the Bible are the outbreathings of God. They are the articulation of the wisdom of God for our nourishment. They are the accepted, standardized canonized books which utters the statutes and ordinances of God.
These men who authored the scriptures did not do it to seek their own interests; they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21).
The Bible is the Word of God.
The book of Hebrews opens with a summary of what the Bible contains:
“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.” Hebrews 1:1-2 (KJV)
The entire Bible contains the relevant revelation of God to mankind. And this revelation was progressively comprehended by the Fathers and the Prophets.
And God finally made His revelation plain and fully comprehensible through Christ Jesus. Jesus came as God’s final Word to mankind. And this final revelation or ultimate message of God to mankind has been given to us in the New Testament. The mysteries of God in the Old Testament have now been revealed in the New Testament.
This then makes the question asked valid:
God’s full complete word to man has been spoken to us through Christ Jesus, and this message has been revealed fully in the Bible. So then does God still speak to Christians/believers?
What this should help you understand is that, since God has spoken in these last days through Jesus Christ, then to even hear God, you must hear what He has said through Christ.
You must turn to what God has said in Christ, because, God’s final and ultimate means of speaking is Christ.
Jesus is the voice of God into mankind.
Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts

From Today’s Machaira, I know that,
1. The Bible is the word of God
2. The Voice of God is Jesus
3. The only way to hear God, is to hear Him through Christ..
The scriptures utters the statutes and ordinances of God.
To hear God, you must hear what He has said through Christ.
Thank you Jesus God has spoken through his final voice in our days and that voice is Christ Jesus so anything you hear which doesn’t sound like the voice of Christ then it deserves no attention
everything you hear must be heard in the voice of JESUS for he is still speaking till the end of the ages
Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; Romans 4:23
Thank you lord for your voice
For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4
