HEARING GOD’S VOICE 3 –
Why God Speaks to You
“I will hear what God the LORD will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly”
Psalm 85:8 (NKJV)
There is much more evidence in the scriptures that God speaks. And yesterday’s episode establishes that as well.
We have also seen that God speaks to everyone (both unbelievers and believers).
There are several examples of God speaking to both believers and unbelievers in the scriptures.
Even from the example of Saul’s conversion in Acts 9, you will notice God speaking or sending a message to Saul (who was not just an unbeliever, but one who was breathing out threatenings and slaughter at the time, see Acts 9:1-5; 1 Timothy 1:15) and also to Ananias (who was a believer and a leader).
“And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord. And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth” Acts 9:10-11 (KJV)
Though God speaks to everyone, it doesn’t mean He chit-chats. He gets personal with you but not casual. Every speaking of God is according to purpose. There are no non-consequential speaking of God.
There was no moment where God’s speaking didn’t chart a course.
He speaks to provide direction towards His purpose, causes you to walk according to His will, to give knowledge and understanding.
This is why obeying or disobeying God’s voice will have a consequence. One of your greatest advantages as a believer is your ability to respond promptly to what God says. (And we will look into it later).
One obedience to God can transform your life for the best.
One disobedience can lead your life towards a wrong direction and create a distress in your life. It is highly costly to disobey God’s voice or word.
Consider all the speaking of God in Genesis 1. When God spoke, creation took place and the cosmic universe became orderly.
At a point when the wickedness of men had increased, which was leading to the destruction of the earth, God spoke to Noah. (Genesis 6:13-22)

When God wanted to set forth a called race, He spoke to Abraham. (Genesis 12:1). The records of the scriptures affirm the intention of God’s speaking.
This is the testimony of the Psalmist about God’s word or speaking:
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
And that is how God wants His people to speak. He doesn’t want you to speak without counsel or with no wisdom. He wants every word which proceeds from your mouth to accomplish and express His purpose and goodness respectively.
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” Ephesians 4:29 (KJV)
The intent of what God says to a believer is different from what He says to an unbeliever.
Whenever God speaks to unbelievers, His intention is to direct them to repentance and salvation and to usher them into His purpose.
The example of Paul (Acts 9).
And see this as well:
“In the past, God forgave all this because people did not know what they were doing. But now he says that everyone everywhere must turn to him.” Acts 17:30 (Contemporary English Version)
The Amplified Translation gives a breakdown:
“Therefore God overlooked and disregarded the former ages of ignorance, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent [that is, to change their old way of thinking, to regret their past sins, and to seek God’s purpose for their lives]“
Sometimes, God speaks to unbelievers to intercede and preserve His people.
Laban a spiritualist who served many gods gathered his army to go after Jacob:
“And Laban was told on the third day that Jacob had fled. Then he took his brethren with him and pursued him for seven days’ journey, and he overtook him in the mountains of Gilead. But God had come to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said to him, “Be careful that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad.” Genesis 31:22-24 (NKJV)
Do you also remember the warning God gave to Abimelech the pagan king, when he decided to take in Abraham’s wife?
“But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife” Genesis 20:3 (NKJV)
God speaks to believers to train them in knowledge and to get them to fulfill His purpose for their lives. His voice trains you and directs you in the way of prosperity.
“The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” Psalm 32:8 (NLT)

God Richly Bless You Apostle Bennie…
So far from this discussion, Apostle has established the fact that :
1. God speaks
2. God Speaks to His creation, all men. Both believers and unbelievers
3. There’s always an intention or purpose or reason why God Speaks.
4. There’s always a consequence for obeying or disobeying God’s voice..
Why God Speaks To Unbelievers
1. God speaks to unbelievers to intercede and preserve His people.
2. God speaks to unbelievers to direct them to repentance and salvation
3. God speaks to unbelievers to usher them into His purpose.
God gets personal with us but not causal !
There’s always a purpose for His speaking
Every speaking of God is according to purpose. There are no non-consequential speaking of God.
Thank you Jesus
The voice of God :
1. Guides me along the best pathway for my life.
2. Advises me and watches over me.
I have an advantage as a believer……
I act promptly on the voice of God !
I speak in wisdom !
Every word I speak is an expression of God’s Goodness
Thank you father for your word
Glory be to God.
God speaks and he wants to be heard. However, God doesn’t just speak. God always has an intent for speaking. He doesn’t chit-chat. There has been no moment the speaking of God didn’t chart a course.
Also, God speaks to all men, both believers and unbelievers. However, the intent of God’s speaking to believers differ from unbelievers.
The intent of God’s speaking to unbelievers is to bring them to a place of repentance and salvation. God sometimes speak to unbelievers to intercede for His people. And the intent of God’s speaking to believers is to feed them with knowledge and understanding; training them to fulfill purpose and to cause the walk in the way they should go(the way of properity). Glory to God!
Thank you so much Apostle for the insight.
I obey the voice of the Lord
Thank you God
God works on our mindset to become like his so that we can be a direct expression of who he truly is
Like the way a responsible father spends time to make sure they bring the best out f their children same cannot be done for that of an outsiders child unless the father intentionally does it for that child
It is very costly to disregard the voice of the one who is all-knowing and knows the future. because as humans we only see the now but God sees the now and to come so if he directs us we have to listen to him more than our feelings emotions and thoughts for he is the director of our path
Very enlightening..
Thank you Jesus!!
One disobedience can lead your life towards a wrong direction and create a distress in your life. It is highly costly to disobey God’s voice or word.
Thank you lord for you know me personally and speak to me
Thank you Lord for the gift of your voice.
We hear God’s voice anytime and it’s mostly when we have accomplished nothing
The lord speaks to me and leads me in the land of uprightness
The Lord speaking to believers aims at something different from His intentions when He speaks to unbelievers. When the Lord SPEAKS to me, He intends to provide direction towards His purpose, cause me to walk according to His will, to give knowledge and understanding of his purpose. But for the unbelievers, He convicts their heart towards repentance and leads them into salvation. Wow! God is awesome! God doesn’t chit-chat, His speaking has specific directions. Thank you Jesus
Glory be to God
Kabaya

Favorite punchline: God speaks to provide direction towards His purpose, to cause you to walk according to His will, and to give knowledge and understanding
God doesn’t just speak…
Oh hallelujah
oh that we would hear and understand the speaking of God to us…
Another enlightening episode of Machaira with Apostle Bennie

Thank you, Lord Jesus.
Thank you Jesus, the lord knows me personally and speaks to me
I hear God’s voice and I obey his voice.
I obey the voice of God!
I have the ability and the wisdom to respond promptly to what God says.
It is highly costly to disobey God’s voice or word.
