GOD GIVES GRACE 5 — Remain Humble
“But He gives us more grace. This is why it says: “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6 (Berean Standard Bible)
We have looked at the reality that, God gives grace abundant.
As part of the previous discussions we also noticed;
- The Grace of God is not only God’s means of bringing us into Himself, however, Grace also is God supplying Himself as our inward ability and influence.
- It takes more and more grace to accomplish the Lord’s assignment.
- Grace is immeasurable and unlimited. It is basically how much you can take that matters.
- While grace is God’s ability supplied to you, IT TAKES FAITH TO RECEIVE GRACE. Faith brings you into the enjoyment of Grace.
Faith is mostly associated with boldness. However, Faith is also a matter of being humble.
It takes humility to acknowledge God. It takes humility to receive God’s word and to act on it.
One of the things which causes limitation and creates resistance to progress in the believer’s pursuit of purpose is PRIDE.
Pride is a limitation.
A proud man is always resisted. Anytime you act with pride, what you are saying is you are good without God. To be proud towards God means you deny or reject God’s resources.
The proud don’t esteem God’s word and despise the wisdom of God. Such a stand makes you become one who is in opposition to God.
Such a position makes you attract God’s resistance.
Without God, you can do nothing. Your boast must not be in yourself but in God’s grace. Thus, to refuse to be humble or to submit to God is to do without God.
God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. (James 4:6)
God doesn’t resist the proud because He wants to be in control. This is how God resists the proud:
“For though you are lofty and exalted, you stoop to embrace the lowly. Yet you keep your distance from those filled with pride.” Psalm 138:6 (TPT).
In as much as God loves everyone, He doesn’t force His grace into places where His supply is not accepted. God doesn’t automatically dispense Himself to people. The strength of God is given to those who acknowledge Him.
To be humble is to realize that by your own strength, you cannot prevail. It is in this state that faith in God finds pure expression.
Imagine attempting to jump from the ground floor to the 50th floor of a skyscraper without any aid.
You need to submit yourself to know that you don’t have enough capacity to get to that floor without aid. To climb to the highest floor of such a building you will need an elevator or a staircase. To deny the provisions made is to remain on the down floor. You cannot be lifted by your strength. Technically, it is not the elevator which has limited you. Your limitation is your refusal to accept that you need the elevator.
Technically it is not God who resists the proud. It is his pride which serves as a resistance.
“A man’s pride will bring him low, but a humble spirit will obtain honour.” (Proverbs 29:23)
Just in case you keep realizing you are not making progress or any great thing you attempt to do, you experience resistance, check your pride.
Humble yourself before the Lord and He will exalt you.
Be humble also towards those the Lord has set over you.
Through humility, Jesus obtained all dominion and authority over all things (Philippians 2:5-7).
God doesn’t give authority to the proud. God gives authority to the humble.
Through humility, you receive more and more grace. And the Lord elevates you to the highest peak of glory.
Hallelujah!
DIG DEEPER
( Isaiah 2:15-22; 1 Peter 5:5; Psalm 40:4; Luke 1:48; Exodus 18:11; Philippians 2:13; Habakkuk 3:19)
WE PRAY
We pray that we shall exercise the wisdom to walk in humility and to acknowledge the Lord’s supply unto us for greater works.
BIBLE READING IN THE YEAR 2024
Isaiah 42 – 45
DECLARE THESE WORDS:
— I submit to the Lord and His word.
— I refuse to be proud.
— I acknowledge and boast in the ability of God.
— My confidence is in God’s supply and not in my own wisdom.
— I don’t reject God’s grace and goodness towards me.
— I esteem the strength of God supplied to me, above my own abilities.
— I have absolute dependence on God and not my efforts.
Thank you Lord Jesus
I continue to stay humble
Through humility I obtain more and more grace to achieve more and more greater things for Christ
By humility I will not fail my generation
Oh that Christ would be increased in me
Prov.16.18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. (NKJV)
Destruction could be the absence of God in one’s life and one is nothing without God’s presence.
Oh I have the grace to be humble.
In the name of Jesus.Amen
I esteem the strength of God supplied to me, above my own abilities.
I esteem the strength of God supplied to me, above my own abilities.
I submit myself to God
I have the faith to receive more Grace
I refuse to be proud
I don’t reject God’s grace and goodness towards me
Oooh Jesus my human strengths cannot prevail. I humble myself in all situations in the name of Jesus.
I refuse to be proud
In the name of Jesus ????
This is an eye opener
Thank you Apostle Sir
Humility is not submitting to anything just because it sounds right but the definite inspiration from the spirit and your immediate leader in them there is exaltation
You enjoy Grace only if you submit in humility and its abundant to take care of assignments and challenges beyond you
Woow, I have come to the understanding that Pride is a limitation or the resistance and not God..
Sometimes I demonstrate pride without noticing it like the way I do not submit myself entirely to PRAYER and studying the WORD.
Other times, my consistency in fellowshipping with Machaira is shaky. All this is related to pride and I repent.
I also understand that the wheels of Faith is Humility to receive more rich and precious Grace for IMPACT
Even our LORD JESUS through humility, obtained all dominion and authority over all things.
I continue to stay humble- absolute dependence on God and not effort.
Thank you Jesus
I have also learnt that humility is submitting to the Lord and His Word and also to the leaders He has set over me.
I cannot afford to undermine any of these 3 categories.
Thank you Lord JESUS!
I refuse to be proud
I don’t esteem myself above God’s wisdom
I am humble
I don’t reject God’s grace and goodness towards me
Thank you Lord Jesus
Thank you Precious Holy Spirit for unveiling this reality of faith working by humility to me. Indeed pride has no place in God’s plan. Dear Lord I trust in your strength and grace to walking constantly in humility. Hallelujah
Lord help me to be humble in all situations
I remain humble and refrain from pride
Thank you Lord for Machaira with Apostle Bennie
I acknowledge the grace of God supplied to me for greater works
Another enlightening episode of machaira with Apostle Bennie
God resist the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
Humble yourself under the finger of God and in due time, He shall exalt you.
Lord thank you for the grace to remain humble
I walk in total submission to God, His word, and His setmen.
My question is how do you practically deal with pride ?
My boast is in the grace of God and not in myself.
Ps.138.6 Though the LORD is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud. (NLT)
I humble myself before the Lord.
Hallelujah!
Through humility, I receive more and more grace.
Phil.2.13 [Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight. (AMP)
I refuse to be proud.
My confidence is in God’s supply and not in my own wisdom.
I esteem the strength of God supplied to me, above my own abilities.
I have absolute dependence on God and not my efforts.
