ABUNDANT FRUIT-BEARERS 1
“My Father is glorified and honored by this, when you bear much fruit, and prove yourselves to be My [true] disciples.” John 15:8 (NKJV)
At the eve of the arrest and death of Our Lord Jesus, He shared some heartfelt realities with His disciples.
These things unveiled, the core of His intentions, His desire or burden, His tack and divine probity.
We have touched on some few of them in previous episodes.
In “Remain Steadfast In Love 2“, I stated explicitly that, the love of God, is not designed only for your enjoyment. This love is to become your expression.
And the goal of our Lord Jesus (to have you remain steadfast in Him) is that, you will become fruitful as He is.
Before our Lord Jesus addressed the virtue of keeping His commandments, He made this profound statement:
” Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” John 14:12 (NKJV).
Those who delight and trust in the Lord, are to do as He did and even do much more.
The immeasurable supply of the love of God and the ability of the Spirit within us, are intended to enable us bear much fruits.
This was the hope of the death of Jesus:
” Jesus replied that the time had come for him to return to his glory in heaven, and that “I must fall and die like a kernel of wheat that falls into the furrows of the earth. Unless I die I will be alone—a single seed. But my death will produce many new wheat kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.” John 12:23-24 (The Living Bible)
The way for Jesus to multiply Himself was not to continue to live as “the Word made flesh”. He has to die to achieve a plentiful harvest of new lives.
His death was as a seed sown into the ground. Thus, in His death, He did not just resurrect as an individual person. Our Lord in resurrection, became a corporate being.
In His walk on earth, He was the “only begotten Son” (John 3:16); and when He resurrected, He brought many sons to glory (Hebrews 2:10; Romans 8:29).
Which means, you are THE FRUIT OF JESUS’ death. And He did not just make you His fruit, you are also A FRUIT-BEARER IN CHRIST.
Hallelujah!!
DIG DEEPER
(John 15; John 5:20; Psalm 92:12-15; Isaiah 43:21)
WE PRAY
That we may function daily as the fruits and the fruit-bearers of Christ.
